It feels like we live in a throwaway society which might lead you to believe that once your lamp stops working that it’s time for a new one. However, if you have a lamp you’d like to revive, there are professional lamp repair services out there. Sometimes they can be a little tough to find, but I promise, they’re around. *Note: Affiliate links may be used in this post. I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. More details are at the bottom of this post.

Whether you have floor lamps, desk lamps, table lamps, or sentimental lamps in need of repair, this is the best way to find a repair shop to get your lamp back in working order.

Where to Search for Professional Lamp Repair Services

Instead of running around town or making phone calls, the best place to start looking is your computer.

Yelp

Pull up the website Yelp.com. Yelp is a review site for home services, restaurants, auto services, and more. Search “lamp repair near me” in Yelp’s search bar. Most of the time, the first listings will be ads for electrical companies. Skip down to the actual results which will look something like this:

All “lamp repair near me” results in Nashville-Davidson metropolitan government (this is the actual result when I search Yelp). You can narrow your choices down to a business listed under this heading.

Google

You can also pull up Google.com and search “lamp repair near me” or “lamp rewire near me.” As with Yelp, ads will take up the first listings on Google. Skip down past these ads unless you see a repair shop that fits your needs. After the ads, there will be three lamp repair professionals listed in the top results along with a map of where they’re located in your area.

If you don’t see one you like, you can also click the “More Places” button for more choices.

Facebook

Facebook is another good source for finding a lamp repair service. Pull up Facebook.com on your computer. Look in the top left corner next to the Facebook icon and there should be a search bar. Type in – lamp repair near me.

The top results will probably be photos of lamps for sale on Facebook Marketplace, however, scroll down and you’ll see the results you’re looking for under the “Places” heading.

Local Lighting Store

If you don’t want to search for a lamp repair service by computer, contact your local lighting store. Many lighting stores have an in-person technician who can assist with lighting repair. If they don’t, ask them if they have a name of a repair tech or a recommendation for someone they use. This is a great way to get in touch with a reliable service technician.

Hardware Stores

Hardware stores also have connections to service techs. Call any of the stores below, or your local hardware store and request a recommendation for a lamp repair expert in your area. Here are some of the top places to contact:

  • Batteries Plus
  • Home Depot
  • Ace Hardware
  • Lowes

Lamp Repair for Antique and Vintage Lamps

Repair/restoration on old lamps may be more involved than regular floor lamp repair work or a desk lamp rewire. This type of work is more intricate and may require a specific professional. If you’re searching for restoration of an old light fixture, search Yelp, Google, or Facebook using the terms below:

  • Lamp restoration near me or lamp restoration service near me
  • Antique lamp restoration near me
  • Antique lamp or antique lighting repair near me
  • Vintage lamp or vintage lighting restoration near me
  • Vintage lamp or vintage lighting repair near me

What to Look for in a Lamp Repair Service

Once you’ve narrowed down the options in your area, consider the following criteria for any lamp repair service. This can help you hire a quality lamp repair expert.

  1. Good reviews

Do a quick preview of the company or individual that you’re considering selecting. Read through the customer reviews that have been left. This can tell you whether other people have had a positive experience.

  • Excellent service

You want to work with a lamp repair service that’s going above and beyond your basic needs. This means they’re taking the time to understand their customer’s needs and personalize their services.

  • Track record with previous experience

Using a tried-and-true service means you’ll feel comfortable leaving your possessions in their hands. Repair jobs can be challenging and knowing that your item will be safe with a lamp repair expert is critical. Years of experience and good reviews will help you know you’ve chosen the right person and that they’ve successfully completed other jobs before yours.

If you’ve had a few lamps sitting around for repair, hopefully, this article helps you figure out where to go in your local area. I’d love to hear how the process goes. Reply below, send me an email, or contact me through any of my socials.

Until Next Time,
Cherie
